Homilies by Fr. Ken Lao, CC (Page 2)
Life After Death
Many people are uncomfortable thinking about their own mortality. As Christians, we know the truth, that there is life after death. Fr. Ken reminds us that we are in this world, but not of this world. Do not get distracted by this life because we have an eternal destiny that God has promised us.
Strength in Weakness
If we were given the choice between strength and weakness, many of us would choose strength; that is because society has conditioned us to believe that we must always be strong to be accepted. In this talk, Fr. Ken explains how he was able to overcome struggles with mental health by accepting his weakness and allowing God to be his strength.
Prayer of the Lowly
We know that prayer is an essential component of our faith life, but why do we struggle to pray? Remember the acronym A.R.R.R.: Acknowledge, Relate, Receive, Respond.
What are we doing with the time talent and treasure that the Lord has given us? Are we using it just for ourselves or are we giving it to others?
Humility is the Path to Greatness
We are all called to greatness. But, greatness comes with humility. Humility is the path to greatness.
Persevere and Finish Strong
Let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us. Let us pray for the grace to do this every day. We need to do this every day so that we can say, “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.”
Detach from the World
Detach from the world and attach to the Lord. When we do this, our spirit becomes very active.
Prayer is based on a relationship. Prayer is a pursuit. Prayer is not about changing God.
Want to Make it to Heaven?
What must we do in order to make it to Heaven? Love God and love our neighbour.
What Will be Your Response?
When we follow Jesus it won’t be easy. There is a cost. But, it’s worth it. We will experience the fullness of life, peace, and joy. This is a foretaste of what Heaven looks like. When we hear the voice of the Lord, what will be your response?
