Update on COVID-19 Restrictions

Dear Parishioners,

On May 20, the province of Ontario released its “Roadmap to Reopen” from the pandemic stay-at-home order. The Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall has reviewed the Roadmap and has sent a notice to all parishes regarding protocols for Masses, funerals, weddings, and baptisms.

We are hoping that indoor Masses will be permitted, to a maximum of 15% capacity, before mid-July.

We invite you to read the archdiocesan letter about the Roadmap on the parish website. St. Mary’s Parish Pastoral Council, in concert with the Archdiocese, continues to call on all Catholics to observe the provincial COVID-19 protocols.

Please Note: There will be a Special Collection this weekend for Pastoral works of the Holy Father

St. Basil’s Parish’s Conversations for our Times Webinar Series

Everyone and Everything Connected: Pope Francis’s Vision for Our World with Cardinal Michael Czerny, SJ
Sunday, May 30, 2021 2:30 – 4:30

Building on Pope Francis’s two encyclical letters Laudato si’ and Fratelli tutti, Cardinal Czerny invites us to consider what they have to say to us as a parish, to the Church in Canada, and beyond.

Pope Francis’s encyclicals encourage us to become aware of our profound connectedness. What is our sense of connectedness?  What are our dreams for the future and for our planet? Let us listen and discuss with Cardinal Czerny, who has been directly involved with the publication and follow-up of these major encyclical letters.

Cardinal Czerny has been involved with issues of social justice and human rights for forty years in Canada, Latin America and Africa. For the past five years, he has worked with Pope Francis on the important issues of migrants and refugees; he also played a significant role in the Synod of Bishops on the Amazon.
