Blessings in the Lord,

Fr. Mark Goring

A senior has requested that someone accompany her once a week on short walks

(no longer than 20 to 30 minutes) up and down her street (she lives one block from Carling and Pinecrest in the west end).  She has not had much exercise since the pandemic began and feels this would greatly benefit her physical and mental health.  Please let the office know if you are interested in providing this help.

Also looking for volunteer drivers to bring the same Lady to Sunday Mass. Registration Guaranteed.

The Innercity Arts Program Is Looking For Volunteers

The Innercity Arts Program at Ottawa Innercity Ministries is looking for volunteers to contribute to our meal train. These readily prepared meals are to be dropped off for Wednesday and Thursday youth programs. If you are interested in donating meals, please register and find more information via the meal train link below.

Innercity Arts provides a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for at-risk and street-involved youth aged 16-32. This program provides an opportunity for these youth to engage and create visual and musical arts while developing a sense of community and personal-growth.  This program allows these youth to express themselves through art while obtaining social resources and mentorships. At the end of each art group we hand out hot meals for the youth to take home. These meals are donated and prepared by our generous volunteers.

CARDUS – Communio (Christian Young Professional Forum)

Communio is a forum for Christian young professionals aged 25-40 in Ottawa. At Cardus, we believe that as we emerge from this time of pandemic the need for Christian community is even greater, not only for ourselves but so that we may be present to those who are searching for Christ and His gospel in the world.

Are you a young professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 that would benefit from being a member of Communio?

Communio is a forum for Christian young professionals aged 25-40 in Ottawa. It builds upon our earlier initiative of Cardus Public Theology which ran from 2017-2019. At Cardus, we believe that as we emerge from this time of pandemic the need for Christian community is even greater, not only for ourselves but so that we may be present to those who are searching for Christ and His gospel in the world. As many of you know, Cardus is Canada’s faith-based think-tank. We are explicitly Christian and our networks extend across Catholic, Orthodox, Reformed, Anglican, Anabaptist, and various Evangelical Protestant traditions.

Communio seeks the following:

  • To bring together young Christian professionals to engage with the Christian tradition both ancient and modern.
  • To encourage young professionals to be confident in living out a public faith.
  • To learn from those who have gone before us, and those who are living today.
  • To build and nurture an ecumenical Christian community through convivial events and opportunities to grow in friendship and love of Christ.

Communio will:

  • Host monthly presentations and discussions and times of Christian friendship. These will be typically held on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
  • Offer Christian young professionals mentorship in how to live a confident public Christian faith.
  • Organize joint events with Cardus NextGen Fellows and our new Cardus Coffeehouse prograrmme of informal public discussions.
  • Sponsor an annual weekend retreat in the late spring focused on an extended series of presentations on a theme pertinent to living a public Christian faith.
