What happens in Alpha?
Each Alpha session begins with connections, to become acquainted with others, to start to establish a relationship. We receive teaching from a film which we watch together, and in a group setting, we dialogue on what this means, respectfully and actively listening to one another. We are free to agree or disagree without argument, or further teaching, because over time, our own views may change and become more finely.
We aim to be accepting and inclusive of everybody, which is why we avoid correcting or teaching within the group sessions but encourage everyone to say what they think or feel without judgement or probing. New guests can join even after the first couple of sessions, although they miss some of the vital relationship building that has already occurred.
Everyone deserves to be exposed to the Son, and it is the hope of all that have experienced Alpha for themselves that their family, friends, and colleagues, and even strangers be offered the invitation to participate themselves. After all, we surely hope to be reacquainted for eternity.
As we actively listen to others, we become more open ourselves, and we allow God to become closer.
Each session builds on what was experienced earlier. This is not primarily referring to the teaching content of the film, because of more importance is the relationship building which occurs within the small groups as we learn to listen to one another, overlook flaws we may initially perceive, grow to like, and even love others, and develop trust from the risk of deep (not superficial) sharing.

New Communication Tools
As children of God, our Mission is to share the Good News of our Saviour Jesus Christ. For many years, passionate volunteers and staff of the Archdiocese shared the Communiqué du jeudi, Friday Facts, and Flocknote messages with you so that you could participate in activities and events that gave you the opportunity to encounter the Lord. We want to thank them for their hard work and dedication.
In its interest in communicating effectively, attracting new disciples, and being responsive to the needs of its parishioners, the Archdiocese has made the decision to discontinue the publication of these communications and replace them with more modern and user-friendly tools. The information they contain is still relevant, however. In the next few months, we will show you where it will still be available and how to access it.
Parishes and clergy will soon have access to a new Sharepoint (Intranet) site for real-time information. Parishioners, future Church members, and people with an interest in the Church will soon benefit from a brand-new website and will have the possibility to subscribe to a dynamic and renewed newsletter. The launch of these new tools will be communicated to you shortly. We thank you for your loyalty and we continue to count on your constant support as you welcome these upcoming changes.
