I grew up in the West Island of Montreal, was raised in the Anglican Church, was married for the first time in the United Church in 1988, have degrees in economics from McGill and Guelph, moved to Ottawa to start a career in the federal government in 1979, and retired in 2016 after 37 years of service.
My first wife Patricia and our two sons, David and Ben became parishioners of St. Mary’s in 2003, then were confirmed as Catholic at the Easter vigil of 2005. We lost Patricia to lung cancer in 2015, but the Lord made it very clear to me that He wanted me to marry again, in particular, Lise Going and she and I marked our fifth anniversary as man and wife on June 25, 2021. We now have four sons together (Jordan, David Chris and Ben) keeping us engaged on many fronts.
I have served the parish in a number of capacities over the past 5 years, helping with the Night of Worship and Ministry and with a few rounds of Alpha and since 2017, I have served on the Pastoral Council. I hope to serve and support our parishioners and pastors in as many ways as I can, to foster a strong sense of community and to fight for our Catholic faith on any battleground to which our Lord sends me.
What I love about St. Mary’s
Here is where the roots of my Catholic life were planted when I was a mere 51 years of age; my spiritual rebirthing place and home.
